Connect supports "Friends of the Children"

This year, Connect has chosen Friends of the Children as their non-profit partner. Located in NE Portland, Friends of the Children is a mentoring program, where their mission is to provide our most vulnerable children a nurturing and sustained relationship with an adult role model who teaches positive values and has attainable expectations for each child in order that they become healthy, productive members of our community. Today they serve 250 children in over 100 schools across the Portland metropolitan area.

For our first partnership this year with "Friends of the Children", Connect members sponsored and participated in their Annual Bowl-a-Thon fund raiser. We raised a total of $785.00. Thank you, Anne McCallister, Jeff Capen, Greg Capen, Noah Oken-Berg, Kimberly Wuepper Rudick, Mona Bhalla, and Brett Hamilton for a successful start to 2009.

Our next partnership opportunity with "Friends of the Children" will be on May 7th for their annual "Friend Raiser". Volunteers, Carmen Duato, Noah Oken-Berg, Jonathan Oesch, Jeff Capen, and Anne McCallister will help organize and run the silent auction, while Brett Hamilton will have the fun duty of bartending for the event.
